Tread Lightly

Forget having to water, harrow, oil and replace your arena footing - replace the dirt with Equi-tread! This revolutionary footing surface is made from recycled tires and is known as "crumb rubber". The crumb rubber stays in place and is dust-free, as well as giving a light, cushioning effect to relieve stress on horses' joints. It does not get slippery when wet and because it is not an organic material, it does not decompose or need to be replaced.
Crumb rubber is also better than shredded rubber, which tends to bind together and get "mogully".
Equi-tread is a great year-round footing, as it stays cooler than sand in the summer and does not freeze in the winter. Some horse owners use it for stall bedding, as it is dust-free and can be reused by hosing down.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) tests performed say that crumb rubber is non-toxic and will not leach into ground water.
