Is Equi-tread
safe for my family and my horses?
For years crumb rubber has been used in play areas for children
and various sports applications. It is safe for kids it is safe
for you and your horses. Crash tests have indicated that crumb
rubber absorbs concussion better than most other surfaces
available.

Is Equi-tread slippery?
No, Equi-tread blends into your sand and becomes part of your
arena surface. It will not bind on top and become slippery.

Is Equi-tread dust free?
Unlike other manufacturers we remove as much of the nylon fibre
as possible. As a horse-person I always felt that the fibre
would break down over time and cause fine filament dust. We did
not want to breath that in our own arena. We are proud to offer
you some of the cleanest crumb rubber on the market! While Equi-tread
will help to suppress dust in your arena we advise starting with
a sand that is as dust free as possible. Equi-tread will
actually prevent your sand from breaking down as quickly than
sand alone.

What maintenance is required?
You will find that Equi-tread requires less maintenance than
sand alone. Equi-tread stays in place and will not cup along the
outside rail as readily as an all sand arena. We recommend
dragging and tending to your arena as you ordinarily would.

Why is Equi-tread better than other
crumb rubber products?
Equi-tread is NOT a by-product of previously manufactured
products such as stall mat trimmings or tennis shoes that can
breakdown quickly. We recycle tires.....some of the strongest
and longest lasting rubber in the recycling industry.

What about steel in the tires?
When tire recycling began over a decade ago the procedures where
quite primitive. There were rumours of people laming their
horses from steel contaminated rubber. Technology has come a
long way! Today crumb rubber is clean and virtually steel free.
